FAQ
You have gotten your child exempted from MTL, what is next?
While an exemption from Mother Tongue Language (MTL) in the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) is granted, students are still required to take a Mother Tongue examination at age 16.
Time Line:
Interim Period (Ages 7-12): For students aged 7 to 12, there are no further major examinations until the age of 16.
Secondary School Placement: In Secondary One, students will begin at the A1 (Beginner) level.
Timeframe for O-Level Preparation: Students have a four-year period to attain B2 (Pre-Intermediate) proficiency, the level required for the O-Level examination in Mother Tongue Language.
